- VIJAY KANWAR
Vijay Kanwar recalls being cold on the day he landed in Toronto from Punjab. At twenty-three years old and with one hundred dollars to his name, Kanwar arrived with a clean slate. It was a fresh start to a new life in Canada.
Within three days Kanwar secured a job at a parking lot near the corner of Bay and Dundas. The relentless work ethic and dedication learned in those first few months, still drives him forward today.
Although Kanwar was cold during that first landing in Toronto, over time he felt warmth of the Canadian people and made a conscious effort to give back.
Over his decorated career, Vijay Kanwar has served on a number of high profile boards and operated as a successful entrepreneur. A dedicated philanthropist and active member of the community, he sits on the board of directors of the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Foundation.
Vijay Kanwar joined the BDC Board of Directors in June 2017, and currently serves as a governor for York University. He is also the Founder of KMH Cardiology and Diagnostic Centres, the largest provider of nuclear cardiology services in North America. This is complemented by his role as Founder of EHLinq Inc., which develops enterprise-level software for medical businesses.
Although circumstances may have changed from the day he arrived in Canada, Vijay Kunwar conducts his life the same way. Humble, honest, and a man of the people.
He is looking to change the world one helpful hand at a time.
